I’m so excited and delighted and overwhelmed to be able to say I won the Women In Business NI Award for Outstanding Innovation in Small Business last night in Belfast.
The judging criteria for my category was:
“This award goes to an outstanding individual who can best demonstrate entrepreneurial flair and innovation in business. Whether it’s a new idea, product, method, technology, process or application this award will go to the individual who has transformed their business.”
When I committed to changing my business model in October 2019, I had no idea where that decision would take me. But now over two years on I so delighted, I took the leap of faith, followed my gut and created HR Made Easy online. July 2021, I celebrated 10 years in business, I think it is fitting that for the next 10 years I feel like I am only getting started! Here is to the next part of the journey.
I want to thank you all for your support, kind wishes and positivity both since I found out that I had been shortlisted and again since last night when I won. It really does mean the world to me.
It was so lovely to have my husband with me to celebrate, after all without him believing in me over 10 years ago when I made the decision to leave my successful (and secure) career with Deloitte to go out on my own, well I wouldn’t be here. You really do need good people in your corner and I have the best standing beside me every day.
I have never been in a room like it, so full of positive energy, kindness and genuine delight to celebrate the achievements of so many inspiring NI business women. The fact that I was privileged enough to be selected as the winner is something I will cherish and is an absolute career high.
Bringing home the award to my three children was so special. I changed my whole career and life to find balance as a working mum. It is so important for me to teach them every day that they can do whatever they put their mind to, if they do the work and give it their absolute best. Nothing is beyond reach, if you believe in yourself. If you can’t find the job you want, you can go out and create it for yourself in your own business.
